Sprouts everywhere, all originating from the mother. She sends out roots called rhizomes, and the shoots pop up from there. Some people fear running bamboos, but they're easy to manage if you keep on top of them and make a plan to pull up rhizomes once a year. They are right under the surface of the soil and easy to pull up...unless you let them go wild. No need to be frightened unless you can't make the commitment for a fall prune.
